      <description>&lt;p&gt;Matthew is a PhD student in the Health Data Science program. He received his M.S. in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley and his B.A. in History and Literature from Harvard University. Before joining GWU, he worked as a data scientist at several global health and international development organizations. His research interests include using machine learning to understand sequence data and developing tools to predict phenotype from genotype with applications to infectious diseases.&lt;/p&gt;
