Varun is an M.S. student on the Bioinformatics track of the Health Data Science Program at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health. His research focuses on applying statistical machine learning models to identify key predictors of various cancers within the CDC NHANES database. Varun graduated with honors from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) in 2022 with a B.S.P.H. in Environmental Health Sciences and a B.A. in Political Science. He has experience extracting insights from public emissions datasets using R and Python and is weirdly fond of the data cleaning process. Varun is particularly passionate about using programming to identify inequities in local, national, and global health outcomes.
